A Federation of Humanity, Collaboration in the Age of Corona
This post has been written by Malik Ahmad Jalal.
We were a Global Village, an Integrated World…. Only six weeks ago!
Then fear in the name of Corona struck..
… And today, we have shut down countries and cities, retreated into communities- raising protective walls but feeling more fearful within these walls.
Truth is that Corona or the next global challenge cannot be defeated through silo-ed, piece-meal and country-by-country responses.
There are surpluses of medicines or nurses in one country and a dire need in the next. Reality is that if one country’s need is not tackled then its suffering will have a domino effect on the other. Therefore we need a global response…..a global governance mechanism to deal with such challenges.
The UN should have led this initiative but has failed. We need an evolved supra-national organization, less politicized, less about power dynamics of individual countries and centered around all of humanity.
When Eugene Roddenberry created Star Trek, he imagined an evolved human race confronting the frontiers of Universe as a United Federation, not as individual countries.
So as we confront new challenges and Go Where No Man Has Gone Before — humanity more than ever needs a more collaborative, integrated and innovative global system to solve our problems, The #United Federation of Humanity
